A Wonderful Hike Along the Schlegeis Lake in Tyrol, Austria
Schlegeis Lake, Tyrol, Austria. The Zillertal valley is a striking place, full of lakes. Schlegeis and other four are artificial lakes that are surrounded with mountains, thus creating a wonderful landscape. Climbing and hiking in these amazing surroundings are the most popular activities.
Schlegeis Alpine Road is 13.3 km long and begins at 1 km above sea level. Many twists and turns run through stunning places and four natural rock tunnels. Visitors are even offered a power plant tour, which introduces the dam.
Why to go there? : Spectacular hiking sites, customized tours.
When to go there? : The road is open from June to October.
How to get there? : By a public bus. By car get there from Ginzling village via the Zamser valley. There is a parking lot at the end of the Schlegeis Alpine Road.
